From 14 to 16 July 2016 the members of the World Customs Organization's Council gathered in Brussels for their 127th/128th Annual Sessions.
In addition to conferring on significant Customs topics, the Heads of Customs administrations also took the chance to visit the exhibition which highlighted the support of the World Customs Organizations for WCO members. In our capacity as the WCO's distribution partner of the WCO Data Model, GEFEG presented the latest achievements of the WCO Data Model.
Many Director General of Customs were highly interested in the UCC European Customs Data Model (EUCDM) which was also showcased by GEFEG. The European Customs Data Model is fully aligned and conformant with the WCO Data Model. Supporting the harmonized implementation of the New European Union Customs Code (UCC) the EUCDM allows the European Member States to incorporate their specific national requirements at the same time.
The exhibition of the World Customs Organizations's Council also provided good opportunities for information exchange and shop talk - Stephen Quest, the Vice-Chair of the Europe Region of the WCO, is talking to Michael Dill, CEO of GEFEG at the GEFEG stand.
